After increasing my jean size slowly over the past couple years, I came to the realization that it can’t just keep increasing. I stated back in November that it couldn’t continue (I had gained 18 pounds since our wedding two and a half years ago). So to start myself in the right direction, I began running about 3-4 mornings per week. While I wasn’t looking at weight loss, I knew I needed to get back in shape. I even looked at signing up for some half marathons to keep me on track (I still have yet to sign up since Disneyland’s was sold out).
A couple things I’ve learned in my battle of the bulge: My body appreciates having nice, full fat cells and it’s a lot easier to put weight on than to take it off! Shocking huh?
I’ve started using the free iPhone app “My Fitness Pal” to track my calorie intake each day and to date have lost about 5 pounds. Not too substantial but enough to make my jeans fit a little better and me to start feeling a bit more in control of my body and my food. ![]()
It really isn’t too difficult with this app because I’m more conscious of what I put in my mouth knowing I’ll have to “write it down” in my phone. And it helps ensure I get a full 8 glasses of water every day, which probably not only helps my body and organs function properly, but makes me feel full in the meantime. I haven’t really been hungry at all since I started cutting calories — I think I’m a “snack out of boredom” type.
I’m hoping by Maui time in just under 6 weeks I will have taken off a full 10 pounds, but we will see.
How are you doing on your new year’s goals?!
