Renovation List

As most people have dreams for their homes, we have many too. This is what we’d like to see happen to our house, in no particular order.

To Do:

1. Finish kitchen – installing built in microwave; backsplash; new range; new countertops; cabinet doors; remove toe kicks on peninsula and add legs (progress made in Feb 2011 and then in Nov. 2011)
2. Gut the Master Bath that is leaking
3. Add a door from the master bedroom to the backyard
4. Create an extended living space via the backyard (PROGRESS: fence, concrete pads and irrigation installed Sept/Oct. 2010 – add furniture)
5. Add a gas fireplace to the backyard (PROGRESS: gas line installed October 2010)
6. Remove drippy texture from living room walls and retexture (Progress made in Feb 2011)
7. Install a new front door (one that is to code) (done in October 2011)
8. Create an office space besides the second bedroom (possibly using the two closets and knocking out the adjoining wall)
9. Pitch the roof
10. Make the attic space a useable space – possible office space? Maybe laundry area? Guest sleeping quarters? 2 bedrooms for future children? We have plans that came with the house – now if only we can put them into actualization.
11. New bathroom windows and second bedroom window (one bathroom window done in Nov. 2011)
12. Tile the shower in the guest bathroom
13. Continue hardwood floor into guest bathroom
14. Make the fan/light in the master bedroom work
15. Landscape the front yard, possibly adding a parking space and removing white picket fence
16. Extend the front porch and overhang – moving the steps to the front of the house
17. Awnings over the side door and kitchen window
18. New driveway
19. Crown molding around cabinets in kitchen (done March 2012)
20. Crown molding, new doorways, and new baseboards in master bedroom (done March 2012)
21. Crown molding in living room (done November 2011)
22. Lighting and electrical outlets in living room
23. Install baseboards in living room
24. Install TV mount and built in cabinetry in living room
25. Install authentic 1920s interior doors throughout the house (4 total) … One more to go as of November 2011
26. Install pocket door between kitchen and second bedroom as well as master bath
27. Stackable laundry area with built in to house the units (laundry is in the kitchen)
28. Enclose the garbage cans on the side of the house with a horizontal fence/cover
